BUTOKUKAN - KENDO - IAIDO - PALAIS DU MIDI

At BUTOKUKAN dojo, we practice Kendo and Iaido, two traditional Japanese Martial Arts. The dojo is located in the hart of Brussels and we are very keen to share our practice. The name of our dojo has a meaning that we try to live by as well as to share with the people who practice with us:

BU
refers to those
Martial Arts
we are practicing
  TOKU
points to the virtues that are part of the philosophy of those Martial Arts: respect, courage, courteousness, peace, kindness, generosity
  KAN
refers to the place where
we are practicing our
Martial Arts

Emilio Gomez
is Renshi 6th Dan in Kendo and Iaido
and teaches those two arts
since 1978.

Kendo
We practice all the different forms of Kendo:
basic training (uchikomi, kakarigeiko), all forms of ji-geiko, kendo no kata, gokyo no kata.

Iaido
The school (Koryu) we practise is the
MUSO SHIN DEN RYU and the basis for our study is the ZEN KEN REN IAIDO.

Our dojo participates regularely to Kendo and Iaido seminars organized in Belgium or abroad.

practice 3 times for free.

Equipmemt
You will not need any special equipment to begin with. A good training will do the trick: the dojo will lend you a shinai (bamboo sword) and/or a bokken (wooden sword)
If you'll feel like continuing, you'll need to get some equipment gradually. The dojo will help you.
